Tomorrow is International Womens Day, a day that celebrates the achievements of women across the globe, and despite progression, still supports the fight for equality.
And how is Juno Copywriting getting involved in International Womens Day 2013? We’ve been invited to Hamilton Community College in Leicester, to speak to a group of young women who are embarking of the first seeds of their career.
In fact, this week has been all about the fairer sex. On Tuesday evening I was lucky enough to attend a meeting hosted by an outfit called Sound Women. Sound Women is a group supporting all those women working in Radio and broadcasting. They believe that despite all the work women have done to try and make media an equal playground, it is still very male dominated.
It seems that despite many women working in the radio industry have great qualifications, they still seem to have smaller salaries than those men who have no qualifications. If you’re interested in the statistics, take a look here.
Now, this is not mean to be a feminist post, it is something that still burns a passion in many womens hearts, and companies like Sound Women, plus events such as International Womens Day are great ways to highlight the fact that there is still a lot of work to be done.

It’s not about burning bras any more, hats off to the women that did that, and you don’t have to be a raging feminist to have strong views about equality. If you want to get involved in celebrating women, you can find events in your local area, or simply get on line and tweet @womensday let them know how you are celebrating women.
